New singel now released

By coincidence I came across this theme by Mozart in a piano book from my late grandfather. The aria has a total different tempo and arrangement but I heard something else behind it. Then at three a clock in the middle of the night this improvisations took place. Intoxicated by the theme I improvised a couple of variations over the form and chord changes, both in a classic style as well as in the jazz idiom.

For the production I arranged it with a double bass line and a synthesizer pad to make it shine.

New album ”Percussion in Orbit”

This production ”Percussion in Orbit” will feature dance rhythms with percussion in new compositions and arrangements. From Afro groove, salsa, Latin-jazz to backbeat. In this process I had in mind my earlier experience of meeting some  legendary Latin musicians like Sabu Martinez, Bebo Valdez, Pancho Chin Aloi and Wilfredo Stephenson, to name a few. These persons gave me a lot of inspiration to carry on in exploring the fields of Afro-, Latino- music heritage in my own creative way. Especially created for dance and rhythm loving people!

New EP: ”Kind of Eye”

”To get inspiration from other artists is a major thing in creating new music I think. Even if the outcome doesn’t sound at all like the ones the inspiration came from. This is for me a benefit. This new album of mine was inspired by “Eggun” an album of Omar Sousa, his album was in turn inspired by the great album “Kind of blue” by Miles Davis. I choose to name my titles in honor of that Miles album. This is  a kind of Electric World Jazz with some new  combinations of sounds. It has rhythmic grooves, jazz chord changes and modal melodies. ”

New Single: ”Två Kulörta Visor”

These songs are my compositions to lyrics by two well known swedish poets, Nils Ferlin and Dan Andersson. They have a kind of jazzy and folkloric touch.

Album release: All Birds don´t fly alike

In this work you can find a mixture of multicultural influences  such as AfroCuban, Oriental and classical western music as well as jazz improvisations. This production is a free musical reflection on the allegororical poem Conference of the Birds  by the Persian poet Farid ud-Din  Attar. Thus the titels of the tunes, which relate to different themes in the poems.
It features his daughter Catalina Langborn on the violin, Olof Wendel on marimba https://www.olofwendel.com/ and Torbjörn Langborn on all other instruments.

Around the world:

This is an imaginary musical journey through different musical cultures I felt inspired to put in a tune. The journey starts with a ”folk-tune-waltz” on a desolate mountain of Europe and travels to sounds of oriental music which melts into India and Africa to become a short Salsa groove. Then a Pandeiro drum break takes the music to Brazil and a samba starts which finely ends in a funky blues downtown in New York.

Latin-Jazz with Roberto Arán vocal/percussion and Milton Román bass:

Symphonic music:

An enemy virus strikes hard, echo of a memory when the world was younger than today, the world will never be the same. A symphonic reflection over the Corona years and the End of an Era.

Improvisation on Church organ:

Music on the organ at the Church of Engelbrekt/Stockholm.

Salsa with the big sound and groove with Latin Company:

Original Salsa compositions by Torbjörn Langborn featuring Don Pancho vocals and many more great musicians.

Syntheziser as a solo instrument:

Original tunes with improvisations on Roland and Nordlead synthezisers.
